1. Grandparents Remember Book – £9.99

This has to be the perfect gift for any doting grandparent. They will be able to store all those moments that you wish they would just forget. Then bore all their friends with countless stories, pictures and maybe even a lock of hair. There is plenty of room for photographs and mementos so they won’t miss a thing. Future generations will also be able to enjoy this book and compare to themselves or their children. I think this is the perfect stocking filler; you will just have to make sure that they have a book for all their grandchildren so no one gets jealous!

2. Planet Earth – £10.40

This has got to be one of the most spectacular series around at the moment, you wouldn’t really expect anything less from the BBC. Sir David Attenborough provides the narration and the filming took place in over 200 locations. It was filmed in some of the most hostile locations around the world and the ‘making of’ extras are definitely worth watching. They manage to convey just what goes into the filming of this unbelievable series. There are specially developed filming techniques used to ensure that you will see sights that have never been seen before. This has to make it onto the Christmas list this year.

3. The Oldie – £35.63

Is your grandparent eccentric and slightly unpredictable and always complaining about society today? Why not treat them to this 12 month subscription of ‘The Oldie’, the magazine that dares to be different. It is edited by ex-Private Eye man Richard Ingrams, and just to clarify it is not a magazine about retirement despite the title. Its aim is to provide its reader with good writing and amusing articles on a wide variety of topics. Apparently books, films, the theatre and other topics are reviewed without mercy and a sense of humour is advised for this satirical magazine. This is great for the grandparent that loves to complain as they will feel right at home reading all the articles.

4. Around the World in 80 Days – £5.78

This is a book about Michael Palin’s attempt to recreate Phileas Fogg’s trip around the world in 80 days in 1872. They both set off from The Reform Club in London for an 80 day trip around the globe. This book is full of amusing anecdotes and cultural confusion and the journey does not appear any easier for Palin 115 years later than it was for Fogg. This could be the book that your grandparent was looking for as inspiration as to how to spend their retirement. Some may argue that it will show them what not to do with their time but either way this is a great read and a definite stocking filler.

5. Personalised Garden Jigsaw – £24.99

All grandparents love jigsaws don’t they? So why not get them a beautiful and personalised jigsaw from this range of seasonal images. Their name will be embedded amongst the 400 piece jigsaw which to me makes the present even more special. These jigsaws are made-to-order and there is a huge range of pictures to choose from. One of the problems I have every year is actually finding a good range of jigsaws. This solves that problem and with the personal touch of adding a name I think this is a must-have this Christmas.

6. Weather Station Clock – £44.99

This is more than just a clock, not only does it have a clock (obviously), it also has a thermometer and hydrometer. You it can personalise this stunning silver-plated clock with a name and message. Your grandparent will be able to show off to all their friends by telling them not only the time but the temperature and the humidity too. This smart looking clock can also be folded up so it’s easy to transport because of course your grandparent will want to take it everywhere with them from now on. We bought this for our grandad and it has been one the most successful gifts to date.

7. 16 Ducks – £25

This is one of those presents that is great for the grandparent who has everything and you never know what to buy them. Not only will you be able to get them a (cute) gift but they will know that their gift is doing something good. In Bangladesh, 16 ducks could be the first step for a family to start recovering from the flooding. They can use the eggs for food and the ducks themselves can be sold or bartered. The people won’t have to take out yet more loans and they will hopefully become self-sufficient. Plus, you can’t deny that these ducks look so adorable.

8. I love my Grandad mug – £9.99

What says I love you more than an ‘I love you Grandad’ mug complete with their name at the bottom. They will never want to use another mug again and will proudly show it off to all their friends. This cleverly personalised mug is finished with a high gloss colour and is 100% dishwasher safe. It is also scratch resistant which is an added bonus, especially if they use it as much as my grandad would! I think this is a brilliant stocking filler and will make a great addition to any mug collection.

9. Grandad’s Shed – 19.99

All Grandad’s have a shed where they like to hide when things get too busy in the house don’t they? Well now they can make sure that everyone knows that this is their shed. This oval shaped plaque is made of resin and then hand-painted and varnished and also contains a picture of a pot plant and hand trowel. The writing of Grandad’s Shed is in antique gold so it will look swish wherever it is placed. The great thing about this plaque is that it is weather-proof so it can be displayed inside the house or out. Another great stocking filler that should make an appearance under the tree this year.

10. Negative Scanner – £109.99

This is a present that will help to keep your grandparents entertained for hours. They can now convert their old 35mm negatives and slides into digital pictures without having to find a photo lab to do it for them. I won’t bore you with the details of how it works but it can hold up to 700 hundred photos so once all the dodgy ones have been removed it will probably hold a whole collection. It is also very portable so your grandparent will be able to show off to all their friends with their new toy. Just think of all the classic photos of your parents you might have missed out on otherwise.
